Lieutenant Mommy Reports For Duty

Well, today was the big day for Janet to head back to the office. I was recovering from a night shift in bed and Austin was taken great care of by his new nanny, "Auntie Hillary". I know it must have been hard for Janet as this was her first time away from our little guy. She made it through the day though and came home with that great optimism which she exudes. We went for a quick run and then had a blast playing with Austin in the yard. We stripped him down to his diaper and let him get some rays. He was loving it.

Mommy Got Some Snuggle Time Too!

Janet got a little snuggle time too. I couldn't keep from snapping a low light picture while mother and babe were happily asleep, dreaming of each other! So sweet!

Our First Shot Day

From shotday
OK, so I may be turning into a softy. Austin got his 2 month shots and did great. Mom and Dad were feeling a bit sick afterwards though. I can't begin to count how many broken bones, lacerations, abscesses and much worse I've dealt with on other peoples children. When it's your own little boy though it's a "tiny bit" different! He was a bit fussy so I just held him close and he melted away in my arms. Janet had to take a few pictures. I didn't show the ones with tears in my eyes though. He slept on my chest for two hours and I finally decided to part with him for the night. He's sleeping away in his crib now. Safe and secure and loved more than he can ever imagine. Thank you Lord for my baby boy and thank you for holding us in Your loving arms when we need it! Eric

Feeling Better!

It must have been something we ate? He's feeling much better and seems to be back to his happy self. Yea!! I'm sure it's short lived though because today is the first of many shot days to come! Yes, it's time for his 2 month shots. I think we should give shots to kids at some place other than the doctor's office. They should associate the fear with some establishment where you really don't want them to go when they get older. Maybe at the local bar or nightclub? How 'bout McDonald's or a tattoo parlor? The principals office? Prison? All, viable options in my opinion!

Cry Me A River!

Nothing like a good old fashioned crying baby to get your heart rate up or your boobs sore (if you're a lactating female). Yes, that's Austin giving us a headache! He's been a bit "cranky" to say the least for the last few days. I thought it must have been something Janet ate. So, in the interest of taking one for the team, I sought out to determine if indeed the milk was sour. I did a few jiggers of the home brew today, from a bottle! I feel a little funny now? I want to be held all the time. Will someone please rock me a little? I've been crying non stop for 2 hours, for no apparent reason, and to top it all off I think I just pooped my pants! Yep! I did! It's yellow and seedy! I'm sorry if the sentence structure is bad but it's hard typing while sucking your thumb with your knees pulled up to your chest! Oops, I just spit up all over the keyboard. Better go. Eric

Holding On

NEW MOM: Well I took a nap with Austin today. Novel, I know. Actually, I have been struggling with trying to get him to sleep during the day, so yesterday I let him cry a little. He went to sleep, but the experience was not much fun for me. Today, he fell asleep easily in my arms, so I decided that was a good indication I needed a nap, too. I may just take advantage of this opportunity and hold my 8 week old snuggly baby boy as much as possible for the next two weeks. Yes, the countdown for going back to work is on. Anyway, this Holding On of my boy may not bode well for my home cleanliness or for the Nanny's well being as she tries to get him to sleep by other means. I'll have to take my chances because he is "Only Little for a Little While."

Also, a picture of Austin and Mom using the cool new running stroller to visit Daddy at work. (Thanks to some VERY GOOD FRIENDS!) I will be using it often! However, not during the middle of the day since it is already getting quite hot and humid here. (Note: the red face)
