I love Sunday afternoons. I don't get a whole lot of them off so when I do, I like to do one of my most favorite things, rest! We went to church today and then to eat some Mexican food. When we came home it was snuggle time. I love my wife and son! Being with them is a little slice of heaven. I am so blessed! Thank you God for love. Thank you for mothers and babies. Thank you Lord for the busy days so I can appreciate the lazy days. Thank you Lord for teaching me how to love and how to forgive. Thank you Lord for time; for time is good for so many things. Thank you God for Your timing in all things, for it is perfect. Eric

Keeping us entertained!

I realized something today as I was playing with Austin and trying to keep him entertained. HE'S THE ONE KEEPING US ENTERTAINED!

A big shout out to mom! "Hi. We miss you and love you. Austin can't wait to see his Nanna! We will be there the last week of June!"

Love,

Austin, Eric and Janet

PRAISES!

Just a quick praise. We think we have a nanny! Yea! Janet met a wonderful young woman who is new to Camp Lejeune. She is a elementary school teacher and is currently working on her masters and is looking for work as she completes her studies. She also has experience as a nanny in the past. Her husband is a helicopter (Cobra) pilot and stationed at MCAS. Their names are Hilary and Adam. Please pray for us in this huge decision! E,J and A

The Many Faces of Austin Brady

I couldn't stop taking pictures. It's an addiction, a habit, a compulsion! Darn these digital cameras. I have stopped using the flash on the photos because I'm afraid I'm going to damage his retina or give him epilepsy or make him grow a tail or something bad. It just can't be good. That's all I'm saying.

Anyway, we had a fussy day. It's not that bad though. He's a good boy. Janet thinks it's because she drinks so much milk, so she is cutting back. I think it's kinda funny. You can't drink too much coffee, tea, soft-drinks, etc. because of the caffeine. Alcohol. Are you crazy! Don't even think about it buddy! Now milk? Stop the madness! I told her that she doesn't need to worry about it. It's OK to have milk. I'm not sure if she believes me though.

For some reason we are trying to get the poop more "yellow" instead of "green". What? I thought we were trying to get it more brown! Anyway, I guess that's why God left the mothering up to the women. I'm quite sure he would be much more fussy if I was making the milk. His poop would be rainbow colored from the dark beer, twizzlers, Copenhagen, Cliff bars and cookie dough and he would likely just growl all the time! Thank God for mothers!

Today was a great day at home just relaxing. We all went to church this morning and then to brunch at the O'Club. The postprandial sleepiness set in and Janet caught these pictures of Eric and Austin resting their eyes together on the couch.

It was a beautiful sunny day so we had to take a few outside shots. We measured Austin today and he has grown one and a half inches since birth. Milk, it does the body good!

Just Looking Around!

I thought maybe it was time for a new video. He's gained weight and is filling out nicely in his face. It's fun watching him just look around and stare at all the newness around him. His eyes are deep blue and just plain beautiful to gaze into.

We went out to dinner tonight at a pizza place and watched a little Yankees baseball on the TV while we were there. ( I'm not a Yankee's fan, it just happened to be on.) Austin went dressed for the occasion as you can see.

Yummy!!!

So Austin is always hungry. He's a growing boy! But in these photos you can tell that his eyes are sometimes bigger than his stomach. This is what I wanted to do today after paying the taxes. Yuck!!

First Tub Bath

What's a baby blog without the obligatory baby in the bath picture. Yes, we have that here too!

This was Austin's first full fledged soap me up and rinse me off bath. He loved it.

More Playtime

Sometimes you have to just make the most of those fussy times! We tried horsey but that didn't work. Apparently he's still a little young for that! Don't worry, we did this under the supervision of two licensed physicians! Next we found that he may have potential in mens gymnastics. Notice the excellent form in the modified iron cross pose! As you can see he wasn't having much fun, but we sure were!

PLAYTIME!

So Janet and Austin went to Olive Garden with some friends today. Austin let loose with his yellow pooh at the table and soiled his britches! Funny! Welcome to motherhood right? No more long leisurely luncheons.
Now it's changing diapers and onesies between breadsticks and pasta Fagioli! When they got home, I put Austin on the floor on the little play mat thingy and he actually started playing!
I know it's not a big deal to most but we are into documenting "firsts". I consider this "online scrap-booking for men". Except you can't call it scrap-booking and still sound "manly". It's Baby Blogging! Scratch, Scratch, sip my beer, change the channel, check the scores, post a picture of the baby....You know, Manly stuff! I should get back to the taxes I guess. Have a great day!

Better Than The Baby Bjorn?

In this delightful picture, Eric tries out a new way to use the car seat. Who needs a baby Bjorn with it's fancy fabric and fancy straps and fancy....stuff. It's the Graco Snugride. Just secure baby in the seat. Make sure the carrier handle is locked into position. Slowly raise the heavy, hard plastic carrier over the head and let the hard plastic handles rest comfortably on the bony portion of the cervical spine. Ouch, !@#$, my neck, my neck, "JANET..!" Got to go!

Remembering Dad: One Year Later....

This weekend has been filled with so much joy and happiness. Having a new life in the family is such a blessing from God. I can't help but remember this weekend last year though. The family was gathered around my dad as he breathed his last breath. He passed away at sunrise on April 8th, 2007 which was Easter morning last year. I miss my dad a lot still. I wish he was here to see Austin and give me fatherly advise but I know he is in Heaven and that comforts me. I think it's neat though how just one year later, a new life, a new baby boy is here. He looks a lot like my dad. I hope he grows up to be as great a man as he was. I miss you Dad! Eric
